VICTORIA D'ANGELO INTERIOR COLLECTIONS
Victoria D'Angelo entered the home textile market in 2004 with a striking collection of fashion bedding, tabletop and decorative accent pillows. Novel details artfully presented as fashion for bedding and a keen sense of color, hue and pattern all contribute to this new brand of home decor. Formerly a fashion designer, Victoria D'Angelo transitioned into Home and brings with her a flair for updated trends and fashion elements. “As I looked at the existing market and the design elements already perfectly created by existing designers such as Calvin Klein, DKNY, Tommy Hilfiger, Liz Claiborne, Kate Spade, I wondered what I could offer that would be different and interesting, adding a new design category to the market place. I love creating constructed products – adding elements not normally found in bedding, for example, or moving things ‘left of center' to have fun with textures, unusual placement of standard elements, color combinations – so this is the direction I've taken. Even with the more traditional elements of embroidery or quilting, I've added just a little twist in how the product looks, in making it fresh to the eye, adding a color element or something not as expected as it could be. I get my inspiration from Fashion and will grow the collection along those lines. As the collection grows and I become more comfortable with the direction, I hope to step farther and
farther to the left…”
Each collection includes a full bed grouping, window panels, accent pillows and sheets. Rugs can be coordinated into the collections, primarily made of wool or cotton fibers. Tabletop adds the final element. From these initial collections, “spin off” groups evolve and elements of the groups can become their own collection, especially in the novelty category. Dec pillows have become a whole group based on one unusual element presented in duvet form.
A great deal of attention will now be focused on the development of the INDIA LACE project. “This is a truly special opportunity to combine fashion, art and humanity into one special project. I will be working on bedding and other home textile items on more of a custom basis while working on the stabilization of the lace project. The future of this remote region as possibly the last remaining source of hand made lace in the world requires immediate attention or it can simply vanish.”
